I've rented beach houses for many years. 50% of them from realty agencies and 50% directly from owners. Of all of the realty agencies we've rented from, this one was the most inpersonal and no-frills. First, not until we've got the contract did anything every show up that linens must be provided by us. We've never had to bring our own linens before. And it ended up being quite a hassle. For a family of 6, the linens and towels took up 2 cubic feet of space in an already packed out minivan. The home (Cape Sands Landing 8B) was clean, but marginally maintained. My daughters almost got stuck in the bedroom from a faulty door knob. Exterior paint was peeling. Screen porch had all of the screens blown out. Kitchen appliances were the cheapest one can get. Microwave had so little power that my wife heated her soup on the stove; it was quicker. However, we had a wonderful time at the beach. After reading the contract, our expectations weren't too high. Ya learn to sense these things after a while. If it wasn't for the linens, we'd choose them if we had to. But the hassle of packing the car with the "extra essentials" will steer us away, next time.
