Workers removed the manhole cover in front of the lift station by my house. And then they left. When I heard a car drive over the hole, I went out and saw it. I got the phone number to report an emergency, and called. It rang for several minutes before being picked up. I told the woman they needed to take care of this before someone was hurt. She left me waiting for a response for several minutes. Then told me I had to give her an account number before they could do anything. I said, it's Lift Station number ##, you have that in your records, surely. She insisted I had to give an account number. I walked back to where I keep my utility bills, but before I got there I said 'what if someone who doesn't have an account sees a missing manhole cover, does that mean you won't do anything' she insisted I had to have an account. I said 'I'm going to get it, I don't have the number memorized' and then she hung up on me. I'm going to try to find some way to report this- kids ride bicycles. Cats are in the neighborhood. People drive their cars. You can't leave a gaping hole in the street and ignore it!
