Professional, Honest, Friendly, Fair Prices, Great Team!
We have an older 1989 home, with original, decaying ducting. In the 3 yrs we've owned this home, we've struggled with cooling. Other contractors had come, none successful, and none really thinking through the math. One wanted to just increase the tonnage but didn't think through the rest of what was needed.
Michael spent 2 hrs to access our situation, crawling in the attic, calculating proper duct and distribution box sizes, house square footage, etc. We were undersized on tonnage per square foot by 1 ton on the larger side of the house with the cooling issues. The main air handler had twice Carrier's recommended max back pressure due to poor ducting practices by the original installer in 1989 as well as poor plenum installation by the prior installer (hint: they drive the green trucks one sees all over Sarasota!) Increasing the tonnage would have only exacerbated the issues we experienced with poor cooling in some parts of the house, as well as mold build-up in the air handler. The suction line going to the compressor was also undersized for more than the existing 3 ton unit.
Michael came up with several options for us, at various cost points, with pro's and con's of each option. We also had to repair the evap coil on the smaller side of the house. He is very low key, thoughtful, and intelligent. The costs were all in line with another contractor, who was very cost competitive but not thorough.
Michael arrived for part of the first day of installation, and introduced us to a young man named Chris, who managed the rest of the team during the nearly 3 day project. Chris and team are hard working, did a good job of keeping the house and garage clean of debris during the project, and most importantly everything works extremely well. After the 1st night, Chris even offered a portable AC unit for our master bedroom, since that would be the one night the system would be inoperative. Just a great experience with professional, respectful staff at our home.
A shout out to Katie and Stephanie (sorry if I've misspelled either of your names!) in the office, who were friendly, flexible, and accommodating on scheduling, and helped me work through some weirdness with a Wells Fargo equity line check that took a couple of days to resolve.
All in all, an excellent experience with professional people, who were cost competitive, friendly, and as my wife put it, "They were great!". Finding honest and capable AC contractors in this town is a challenge. We've found Mr AC Cooling and Heating and could not be more pleased. Highly recommended!
