The Veranda

Arrived at 6:10 for a 6:30 reservation. wanted to enjoy the bar which surveys said was delightful with engaging bartenders. Sat down to an empty bar with no bartender. After waiting 11 minutes, she arrived, provided our cocktails and disappeared again. Went to hostess at 6:30 to be seated and was told our table was being set up. We were seated at a nice table for two at 6:40. Received water and bread by busboy but no waiter. At 6:56 we were about to leave when the waiter, Keith, finally showed. Was pleasant but preoccupied. When asked about specials, he was unaware and left to find out. We placed our order. Salads came out quickly and entree took about 20 minutes. As we started to eat, we found the vegetables to be cold. Waited for Keith to check on us. Had to ask busboy to find him. When briefed, he did replace the cold ones with hot ones, with apologies. We were not offered deserts and had to ask the hostess for our tab. In summation, we love to applaud restaurants and bars for our experience. This was the worst experience in our seven years in Fort Myers. We've had better service and hotter food at Ford's Garage. When we choose fine dining again, we will stick with Capitol Grille where they know what "fine" means.
