The Proper Pie Company

Proper Pie where have you been hiding? This was a first visit and it won't be our last. Upon entering the sweet gentleman behind the counter named Nick greeted us and asked what we would like. We inquired about the different meat pies they offered, and he let us know that they had some fresh Chicken, broccoli and cheese coming out of the oven. He was also very nice and letting us know that they had just reopened following the Christmas holiday and New Year and that they didn't have all of their pies available currently. We decided to order fish and chips because that's what we really had our hearts set on, so Mom ordered the large order of haddock and chips and I ordered the regular haddock and chips. Their sizes are based on the weight of the fish. For an appetizer we decided on the breaded bangers. If you are unfamiliar with bangers they are a proper English sausage . After he took our order he directed us to the drink offerings which also included water and told us to have a seat and he would bring our order out shortly. Within a few minutes Nick brought out are bangers which four encased and a light flaky crust quite like a croissant. They were very tasty and I totally recommend them. Not long after that are fish was brought out, it was huge! The fish was cooked perfectly, not oily or greasy, and a beautiful golden brown. The chips that went along with it we're also cooked perfectly. This was a lot of food well worth the price. When we finished we headed up to the counter and decided to take home one of those chicken pies, as well as a steak and onion Pasty. I look forward to trying these later tonight or probably tomorrow for lunch. I also look forward to returning so I can try a scotch egg and more of their menu.
